FAQ

KINK3D's 3D-printed products are made from PA12 nylon. The material is a strong, rigid (non-stretchy), lightweight plastic.

After printing, products are finished with an industry-leading vapor process, which smooths and seals the outer surface.

All 3D-printed KINK3D products are designed by our team in the Bay Area of California and manufactured in the USA.

KINK3D products are shower-safe, can be worn in hot tubs and swimming pools, and are compatible with water, oil, and silicone-based lubricants.

We recommend regular cleaning with soap and warm water, including gentle scrubbing of interior surfaces with fingers or a soft brush or cloth.

Products can be wiped or sprayed with most common cleaners, or more thoroughly sterilized with a brief soak in disinfectants such as isopropyl alcohol. Some dye may come out when soaked.

Boiling will not melt PA12 nylon, however boiling frequently or for long periods may degrade the material or fade the color and is not recommended.

A small amount of color can sometimes come off from new KINK3D products. This is normal for the manufacturing, and generally stops after a few days to a week.

There's no one right way to do chastity. Many people enjoy sensation play, including using a vibrator, while wearing their cage. This can be for teasing and getting extra worked up, or it can include vibrating the caged penis to orgasm.

In general, our cages work well with vibrators. However, we have received occasional reports of very strong vibrators causing damage to the surface of the cage, especially when used for extended periods and when allowed to get hot. When using a strong vibrator (such as a wand style), please consider using moderation and taking periodic breaks to prevent overheating. We also suggest using a cloth, pillowcase, underwear, or something else between the vibe and your KINK3D cage, to buffer the vibration and reduce the chance of damage.

KINK3D cages do not generally set off metal detectors. The PA12 nylon used for our 3D-printed products is invisible. The amount of metal in a standard lock is small, and if desired you can use the Airlock to go completely metal-free.

KINK3D cages do generally set off mm-wave (rotating) security scanners, which are found in many airports.

Results may vary. Consequences are ultimately the responsibility of the wearer. Please take care and use good judgment deciding where it is appropriate to wear your device.

Yes. We designed our special interface from the ground up to be interchangeable. All our base rings are compatible with all KINK3D Cobra and Viper cages and KINK3D Shaft Rings. This means you can mix and match sizes and styles to get your fit just right.

Please note that due to natural sub-millimeter variation in 3D printing, certain pieces can connect together with a slightly looser or tighter fit than others. If you run into a problem with the fit of your pieces, please read about tight fit here or loose fit here.

No. All KINK3D products use an advanced post-processing technology after 3D printing, and they are smooth out of the box.

KINK3D cages and base rings are designed to fit together snugly. This reduces the chance for skin to get pinched. It also helps prevent motion that can allow the balls to slip through the gap and escape.

Due to minor variations in 3D printing, certain cage/ring pairs can fit together more snugly than others. This is normal for the manufacturing. If your device is difficult to attach at first, it may require breaking in. Firmly press the cage and ring together until the two side pins on the cage are fully seated in the slots on the ring. Then let the device sit for 24-48 hours. Assembly should get easier after this break-in period.

Occasionally it can be difficult to push the metal lock all the way into the lock chamber. First, double-check that your cage is fully seated in the ring. If even 1 mm of the two side pins isn't pressed into the slots, it can prevent the lock chamber from aligning properly. Once the cage is fully seated, press the lock firmly into the chamber, remove it, and repeat several times. You may notice tiny flakes of nylon plastic being shaved off by the sharp edge of the metal lock during this break-in process.

If you still have trouble connecting your device, please contact us at support@kink3d.com and let us know. We may ask you to supply a picture or short video clip to help us diagnose the issue.

Due to minor variations in 3D printing, certain cage/ring pairs can fit together more loosely than others. This is normal for the manufacturing. If there is some movement at the joint of your device, please use the silicone O-rings included with your cage to tighten the connection. This will help prevent pinching.

Note: When using O-rings, you will need to press and hold the center of the cage very firmly towards the base ring while inserting the metal lock. If you have trouble, we suggest practicing while holding the device (not wearing it).

If you need O-rings and you acquired your KINK3D device before we started including them with each cage, please contact us at support@kink3d.com. We will either send you some or try to direct you to some locally, depending where you live.

KINK3D products can sometimes fit together snugly. If your device has a tight fit, it may be difficult to pull the cage straight forward off the base ring. Instead, pull the cage off the base ring at a slight angle, alternately pulling one pin at a time (left pin, right pin, left pin, right pin...).

You should be able to "wiggle" the cage off the base ring using this method. It can be much easier than pulling straight out away from the base ring.

Compared to the average chastity cage on the market, most Cobra cages in Standard and Wide versions have a relatively large entrance diameter. Cobra is designed this way for two reasons:

  1. Having a wider entrance makes it easier to put the cage on. This might not matter much for people who almost never remove their cage, but for us lesser mortals who put on and take off our cage on a regular basis, it can make a big difference. Especially when there's time pressure in the moment to get everything squared away!
  2. During erections, the penis will swell, and with a cage on, most of that swelling can happen behind the cage — in the part of the shaft that isn't covered and compressed. A narrow diameter cage entrance can create a dramatic transition point between the expanding and non-expanding parts of the penis. A wider entrance helps make this transition more gradual, which can improve comfort for many wearers.

That said, we know some chastity fans love a snug-fitting cage, so we also offer a Narrow version for some of our sizes!

The opening for the lock is on the left side of the device because of the direction the key turns in the lock. If the opening were on the other side, the lock would rotate backwards instead of forwards, and the whole device would have to be larger and less discreet under clothes. It would also be incompatible with the KINK3D Airlock.

As a bonus, this makes it easier for all the right-handed keyholders out there!

The KINK3D Airlock® is one of our original creations! People love it for two main reasons: It lets you achieve a 100% metal-free cage setup, and it secures your device with a uniquely numbered seal that proves you've been continuously caged without unlocking — all while keeping the device rigidly connected.

However, the Airlock can be fiddly to put on. It gets a lot easier with practice, but if you're still having trouble, you can follow this short tutorial video (SFW) to learn how to assemble the Airlock backwards. This trick makes it much easier!

All current KINK3D cages are engraved with their size under the lock area. In addition to the length marker, you may see a dot to the left or right. Dot on left: Narrow. Dot on right: Wide.

For example, the Cobra N+ Narrow is marked like this:

KINK3D Base Rings are marked on the front side, at the top, under the lock chamber. For example, a Size 1 Base Ring is marked like this:

Note: Some older versions of KINK3D products may be unmarked.

The Mk1 Cock Ring should be worn around the whole package (penis and testicles), sitting flush with your pubic area. The small circle on the Mk1 should be at the top and facing backward, towards the body.

In this orientation, the contour at the bottom of the ring should curve under the body and hug the perineum.

If you're having trouble putting on your ring, we recommend getting one testicle through at a time and inserting your penis last.

No! The iconic KINK3D Cobra isn't going anywhere. We view our two cage lines as complementary. For certain anatomies, one cage shape or the other may work best; other people may find that they love both styles and want to have both in their collection and switch off between the two.

Coverage

The open design of the original KINK3D Cobra gives it an airy, barely-there feeling, allowing for easy cleaning as well as stimulation between the bars.

In contrast, the more enclosed design of the KINK3D Viper restricts touch and sensation (while still allowing for ventilation and cleaning due to the narrow slits running down the length of the cage). For customers with more delicate foreskin, the enclosed design can help prevent pinching caused by interactions with the cage bars.

Shape

Most Cobra sizes have a tapered shape — with a wide entrance, narrow head ring, and flared head. This helps hold the Cobra cage in place on the penis while accentuating the glans.

Viper features a more consistent inner diameter, allowing for smoother movement of the penis within the cage. This lets the penis return more easily to its proper orientation after fluctuations in flaccid length. Plus, Viper's wider "neck" behind a short head section may reduce the chance of foreskin edema.

Customers with lots of foreskin and/or a very thick penis may be able to fit comfortably in Viper, when they couldn't in Cobra.

We expect that many people will be the same size in both cage lines. However, due to the different shape and specifications of each line, some people may find that they fit slightly differently and are most comfortable in a different size.

One important consideration is that Cobra cages have a narrow point behind the head. For some people, this narrow point squeezes down on the penis, requiring a wider cage in order to be comfortable. Since Viper has a more consistent diameter in the cage (without a narrow point), some people wearing a Cobra in Wide may prefer a Viper in Standard.

When in doubt, please refer to our cage specifications to compare Cobra and Viper, or email support@kink3d.com for one-on-one advice.

Viper matches the shape of an uncircumcised penis more closely than Cobra. Without a narrow spot behind the head, Viper may squeeze down less on the foreskin, improving longterm comfort for some uncut wearers. Viper may also have a more natural fit for the foreskin in the head area, with less extra space.

However, there are many uncut chastity fans who love wearing Cobra, and we expect many cut enthusiasts to be equally well served by Viper. Ultimately, the choice may come down to individual anatomy as well as stylistic preference!

No. Viper has a different, more snub-nosed head shape compared to Cobra. It's shorter (back to front) and doesn't flare out (top to bottom or left to right).

On Viper, the head section of the cage is not designed to fully encompass the head of the penis. This is somewhat different from Cobra, where many chastity fans are happiest when the head of their penis sits fully within the head section of the cage (though by no means is this strictly required for Cobra).

In a Viper cage, the head of the penis is likely to sit partially inside and partially outside of the head section. For some people, this feature may reduce the likelihood of the head retracting fully out of the head section and becoming stuck on the bars of the cage throughout the day.

At launch, Viper is available only in KINK3D's classic vapor-smoothed satin black. Stay tuned for announcements about additional colors by signing up for our email newsletter and/or following us on social media!

Careful observers may note that the head section on Viper draws heavily from the Baby Cobra, which shares the same snub-nosed, non-flared shape. For this reason, a Baby Viper would have the same overall proportions as the Baby Cobra. It was therefore not included as a separate product in the Viper size lineup at launch.

That said, a Baby Viper has not been ruled out for the future 🐍

KINK3D Cobra cages are available in our original black, plus two Fusion Line colors: Fusion Pink and Aqua Blue.

KINK3D Viper cages, Shaft Rings, and Mk1 Cock Rings are currently available only in black.

A small number of products in other colors have been made in the past, and you may see photos of them circulating online from time to time. These are not currently available for sale. We are working hard to launch more colors. We'll announce these through our email newsletter and social media as soon as they're ready. Thanks for your patience!

Yes! KINK3D Fusion Line cages are made with non-reactive PA12 nylon and are colored during 3D printing, without dye. In our experience, they are hypoallergic. However, we always want to acknowledge that individual results may vary. If you experience onset of noticeable itching or swelling with a Fusion Line product, please discontinue use of the device and let us know.

Fusion Line Cobra cages and base rings are designed to be compatible with black KINK3D products. However, please note that dye from black KINK3D products may rub off on surfaces that are in contact. Although these surfaces should not be visible while your device is being worn, we recommend not to mix and match colors if you want to keep your Fusion Line KINK3D products in pristine condition.

While all 3D-printed KINK3D products are made from PA12 nylon, Fusion Line products are manufactured with a different 3D printer compared to our black products. In order to achieve brightly-colored prints, the machine for Fusion Line colors requires specialized consumables including titanium oxide for the outer layers of each piece. These materials are significantly more expensive.

Every 3D-printed KINK3D product is treated with an industry-leading vapor process, smoothing and sealing the outer surface.

In order to protect their bright color, Fusion Line Cobra cages are smoothed with a unique solvent at a lower temperature. This gives them a glossier finish and slightly grippier texture compared to our black products.

Vapor sealing minimizes porosity — critical for longterm hygiene — while enhancing color at the same time. The result is a vibrant, durable color that lasts through repeated showers and (just about) whatever else you may throw at it.

We get this question a lot. While it is true that chastity fans often seek out smaller cages over time, this is mostly for the fun of being more snugly contained. We are not aware of any research showing that chastity devices cause lasting anatomical changes to the penis.

No. KINK3D chastity devices use the "ball-trap" method, and no ball-trap device is foolproof. The penis is a truly remarkable escape artist. A well-fitted device should minimize the chance for escape, but the only way to fully secure a penis in a ball-trap device and prevent it from being sneakily pulled out is to use a piercing, such as a Prince Albert (PA), to physically lock the head of the penis to the bars of the cage. KINK3D cages are designed to be compatible with many PA piercings.

Wearing a chastity cage will not prevent the body's natural functioning, which includes erections. This is especially noticeable during sleep, when erections are involuntary.

When you start to get an erection, the cage will partially restrict it, compressing the penis and redirecting the erection downward (rather than out and up). However the penis will still grow when this happens, and it's normal for the cage to get pushed out away from the body as a result.

At KINK3D, our goal is to make our cages as comfortable as possible, so you can lock up for longer! That includes erections. We avoid sharp edges and other pain points that can be particularly problematic during erections. We also offer a very wide range of sizes, knowing that the right size can be a huge benefit for comfort.

With proper sizing, most people find that erections are not painful. You may feel some cozy pressure on the penis (which many chastity fans enjoy), but there shouldn't be the "Oh @%*#, get it off me!" feeling that is notorious with certain chastity products. If you're experiencing discomfort during nighttime erections, please read our guide to this topic. You can also contact us for advice at support@kink3d.com.

One of the biggest dreams for chastity enthusiasts is 24/7 wear — in other words, wearing a cage continuously without taking it off. We totally get why this is such a hot fantasy!

What people often discover is that sleeping through the night is the hardest part of making the 24/7 locking dream come true. It's very common to be woken up in the middle of the night by a nighttime erection. While we can't promise that there's a perfect solution, there are a few things you can do to address this issue:

  1. Make sure your ring isn't too tight. The most common problem for nighttime erections is a burning sensation under the scrotum. If that's your experience, a larger ring and/or a curved ring may help to reduce the pressure on this area of the anatomy.
  2. Use lube. Reducing friction under the scrotum can be a big help. We offer our own Cage Cream product, or you can try any long-lasting lubricant, such as Vaseline.
  3. If you still wake up, don't just lie in bed suffering! Head for the bathroom and urinate. This will usually help your nighttime erection to subside.

Lastly, if you just can't find a good system for sleeping through the night with your cage, don't feel bad about switching from 24/7 to 16/7 wear. We know many chastity enthusiasts who take their cage off right before going to bed, and put it back on first thing in the morning. Kind of like glasses or contacts :) This might be the right compromise to ensure that you are well rested for everything else going on in your life.

We continuously work to improve the safety of our products. That includes a focus on ergonomics, pinch points, sharp edges, and smooth textures. We believe our products significantly exceed the industry standard.

Ultimately, KINK3D products are use-at-your-own-risk. If you experience any medical issue such as restricted circulation, bruising, or skin irritation, please — at minimum — take a break from the product and reevaluate sizing. If your symptoms persist or are severe, please seek medical attention.

When you first receive your device, test it slowly. Do not immediately give your key to another person who lives far away from you. It can take at least several weeks to make sure the device is suitable for longterm wear.

In the unlikely event that a device gets stuck on you, try using soap or lubricant to help slide it off. Taking a hot shower will also warm the material, which slightly increases its ability to flex. If those methods don't work and you don’t feel that you can safely break it, go to a doctor. However embarrassing it is, we promise, they’ve seen worse.

Black KINK3D products are colored with a skin-safe dye containing paraphenylenediamine (PPD). PPD is widely used in hair and beard dyes, as well as in consumer clothing.

A small number of people exhibit skin sensitivity to PPD. The sensitivity is usually noticeable quickly and can include dry, itchy skin and/or swelling. If you experience a reaction, please stop using the product right away. Symptoms should cease within 1-2 weeks. Please consult a doctor if symptoms are severe or persist; your doctor may suggest an anti-inflammatory cream such as cortisone to speed up the cessation of symptoms.

KINK3D products in colors other than black are hypoallergenic. While we can't guarantee individual outcomes, in our experience reactions are extremely rare.

We base our cage recommendations off of your normal smallest flaccid length.

When measuring flaccid length, allow the penis to hang naturally. Measure along the top side of the penis from base (where it meets the body) to tip. It's best to use a cloth tape measure, or a string which you can measure with a regular ruler or tape measure. We suggest measuring several times over the course of the day under "normal" conditions — not right after a hot shower, and not when it's extremely cold.

More detailed instructions can be found in our Cobra and Viper sizing guides.

Unlike other chastity brands, we don't recommend trying to measure for the base ring using a tape measure or a string. We've never found a good system for doing this reliably. When people measure this way, they often get results that are significantly off from what they truly need (usually too big).

If you have experience with other chastity devices that use circular, flat (not curved) rings, you should be able to measure the inner diameter and use that information to make a good guess on a ring size with KINK3D. If you have experience with other types of chastity base rings that have a more unusual shape, or you need additional help, feel free to email us.

Generally yes. PA piercings up to 2 gauge size should be compatible with all standard Cobra and Viper cages (with the exception of the Baby Cobra Narrow, which can only accommodate 6 gauge PAs and smaller).

PAs that are 0 gauge or larger may fit on certain cage sizes, but can be a tight squeeze. The smaller your inner diameter (ID), and the less distance between the two ends of your jewelry, the harder it will be to use a thick PA with your cage.

If you have questions about your PA and a specific cage, you can email us. We'll do our best to give advice, but please note, we can't always guarantee that a specific PA will be usable with a specific cage size.

If you've looked at our cage size guide (Cobra, Viper) as well as our cage specs page (Cobra, Viper), you may have noticed that the cage suggested for a given flaccid penis size is generally shorter than the flaccid penis itself. For example, the Cobra S has a total device length of 2.75" (7cm), but it is suggested for people who are 3-3.5" (7.5-9cm) when flaccid.

The short reason for this is that penises are squishy! When putting on your cage, it will naturally compress the penis by a certain percent. Not only is this normal behavior for the product, but it can actually be important for a good fit. This compression will help ensure that the penis fully fills the cage, with the head of the penis staying more towards the tip.

People are always asking us: Is it "Kink three dee"? or "Kinked"?

Answer: It's "Kink three dee".

What's the story with the name?

Firstly, we couldn't do what we do without the latest 3D printing. Even a year before we started, the technology to create what we had in mind just didn't exist. We're proud to be an unusual showcase for what advanced additive manufacturing can accomplish, and we wanted to honor that in our name.

Secondly, our mission is to take fantastical ideas in the realm of kink and turn them into tangible creations. Ones that real people can enjoy in the three-dimensional world that we all live in each day as (hopefully!) three-dimensional humans.

So that's the origin story. Thanks for being on this ride with us!

🐍💕🔐 KINK3D

When we first started in 2019, our cages were called the KINK3D X-Lock Cobra. The idea was that "X-Lock" would be the name of our interoperable ecosystem, including cages, base rings, shaft rings, and more. The cages themselves, with their cobra-hood-shaped spine bar, would be named Cobra.

Good in theory! However, it was quite a mouthful. In 2021 we bit the bullet and ditched the X-Lock branding, simplifying the name of our first cage line to KINK3D Cobra. But the original name secretly lives on in the trademark 'X' engraving on the back of our base rings.
