31 tips to get you through 31 days of Locktober
Tip 1
Start early
Don’t wait until October 1 to grab your cage. Thinking you’ll buy it and instantly last a month is unrealistic. Give yourself time to break it in, test shorter sessions, and work your way up to Locktober.
Tip 2
Listen to your body
Chastity shouldn’t be constant pain. A little adjustment discomfort is normal, but if you’re bruising, pinching, or losing circulation, stop. Your body will tell you what works—listen to it.
Tip 3
Security is Mental
You can pull out of most cages if you try. Chastity isn’t about impenetrable security—it’s about committing mentally.
Tip 4
Hydrate to Dominate
A little lotion goes a long way. Apply a thin layer of lotion around the base ring twice a day to avoid dryness and keep everything moving comfortably in its cage.
Tip 5
Can you Orgasm in a Cage?
Yes you can. Grinding, vibrations, or even just enough frustration can do it. But for Locktober, the real challenge is asking yourself: do you want to?
Tip 6
Unlock to Wash
Long-term wear requires good hygiene. Consider unlocking every week or two for a deep clean. A fresh cage and fresh skin make it way easier to keep going.
Tip 7
Snug or Spacious?
Some people like a cage with breathing room. Others want it skin-tight. Either way, we don’t suggest leaving room to grow for LENGTH—it will be harder to stay lined up at the tip.
Tip 8
Morning Wood Woes
Nighttime erections happen. A well-fitting cage and moisturizing before bed are crucial. If you do wake up, head to the bathroom and pee. It will help your erection go away faster.
Tip 9
Smaller Isn’t Always Better
Don’t chase the tiniest cage. If it doesn’t match your natural flaccid size, it’ll cause more issues than fun. Find a fit that’s snug, but not hanging off your body or causing you to bulge out.
Tip 10
No Pain = More Gain
The right cage shouldn’t mean constant pain. Chafing, cuts, or numbness indicate wrong fit. Chastity should challenge you, not injure you.
Tip 11
Nudge Nudge Wink Wink
Sometimes you may need some help pushing yourself all the way into the cage. Or your urethra may shift while wearing it. A cotton swab or one of our Nether Nudgers is perfect for guiding things back into place.
Tip 12
Your Dick Won’t Shrink
Contrary to popular belief, chastity won’t make your dick shrink. On November 1, it’ll still be there waiting for you—and hornier than ever.
Tip 13
Key Safety
Even when you have a keyholder, it’s best practice to keep an emergency key nearby. Use a sealed envelope, ice block, KINK3D Key Sleeve, or another trick to keep temptation in check.
Tip 14
Multiple Cages/Rings = Normal
Many of our fans have one cage/ring combo for longterm wear and another for play. Think of it like shoes: you wouldn’t wear stilettos to the gym.
Tip 15
Uncut? Read this
If you’re uncut, give yourself some breathing room. A little extra length or width can help prevent pinching and edema. Positioning your foreskin is also key. Want a cage that plays nice with foreskin? Viper’s got you.
Tip 16
Not Just a Kink
Chastity isn’t only for BDSM. People use it for focus, discipline, edging, habit-breaking, gender-affirming, or just fun self-control. Locktober is what you make it.
Tip 17
Ring Choices
Our base rings come in different shapes: Standard, XD, Curved. The right ring keeps you secure without pinching, rubbing, or squeezing. If you’ve got smaller balls, the XD ring might be your perfect match.
Tip 18
Breaks are Smart
Unlocking for health, hygiene, or sleep isn’t “cheating.” It’s common sense. A short break might help you achieve your longer locking goal.
Tip 19
Pee Like a Pro
Locked up? Peeing can feel like a puzzle. Use a cotton swab to align yourself, try sitting down, or if all else fails—unlock, go for it, and get back to the fun.
Tip 20
Solo Lockers Welcome
You don’t need a keyholder to do Locktober. Self-locking can be just as challenging—and rewarding.
Tip 21
Keyholder Check-In
If you’ve got a keyholder, communicate! Share how you’re doing, what feels good, what doesn’t. Locktober isn’t just about one person calling the shots—it’s about connection.
Tip 22
Sleeping Rules
You’re supposed to be dreaming of chastity, not losing sleep over it. Sleep is critical for mental and physical health. If your cage keeps you up at night, make a ritual of taking it off before you go to sleep and putting it back on first thing in the morning.
Tip 23
Comfort vs. Security
Not everyone’s anatomy has a “perfect” setup. Often there’s a balance between comfort and security. Find the sweet spot that keeps you horny and safe.
Tip 24
Full (Non)Metal Jacket
Our cages are made from nylon, which won’t set off metal detectors. So if your work or flight (or NBA game 🏀) has a metal detector, there’s no need to unlock. But the rotating scanners at airports WILL pick it up—plan accordingly!
Tip 25
Adventure Time
Horniness is a great mind opener. There’s no post-nut clarity when you can’t nut 😉 Take advantage this Locktober and explore some kinks that have always been on your bucket list.
Tip 26
Fashion Friendly
Most street clothes hide cages well, but there are exceptions (ahem grey sweatpants…). Just remember, a minor bulge is not as visible as you think—most people in public won’t see it and immediately think “CAGE”!
Tip 27
Doms Can Lock Too
Why should subs and bottoms get all the fun? Lots of doms and tops also enjoy caging. Locktober is the perfect chance to switch things up. It’s okay, it won’t make you any less domly in our book.
Tip 28
Prep Your Supplies
Lotion, Moisturizer, cotton swab, emergency key—get your toolkit ready. Nothing kills the mood like realizing you’re out of the basics on day 3.
Tip 29
Trim the Hedge
Hair + cage = tugging, pinching, and irritation. Give yourself a trim or shave now so you’re smooth and ready for a longer lock.
Tip 30
Celebrate Your Wins
Locktober isn’t a competition. If you don’t make it all the way, don’t sweat it. Celebrate how much you did lock, how horny you got, and all the lessons learned.
Tip 31
You’re Not Alone
People around the world are trying to do Locktober too. Look for local groups or online communities on Reddit for support.
